Student Services

Meet our Student Services Team

The OCPS Student Services department is comprised of four teams  (Psychological Services, Social Services, Academic Services, and Mental Health Services) that work together to promote social and emotional wellbeing, and academic success.

 

 

  • Provides academic social/emotional individual or group counseling and 504 Coordinator. 6th Grade and 7th Grade A-K last names.

     

     

  • Provides academic social/emotional individual or group counseling and 504 Coordinator. 8th grade and 7th Alpha L-Z

  • School social workers are professionals who meet the state requirements to practice social work in the school setting. They help students address barriers to learning through an ecological perspective that the student is viewed within the context of the classroom, the family, the community and culture. School social workers are prepared to understand and assess the functioning of an individual student in the context of multiple environments. They provide services to all students related to the student’s social and emotional adjustment to school, family, community and society. School social workers are the link between the home, school and community. They provide direct and indirect services to students, families and school personnel to promote and support students’ academic and social success. School social workers are prepared to provide a breadth of services as members of multidisciplinary school teams. These services include, but are not limited to:

    • Assessment and screening
    • Counseling and support groups
    • Crisis intervention
    • Collaboration between home and school
    • Advocacy
    • Services to families
    • Services to school staff
    • Coordination of community agency services
    • Classroom observations of students and teacher support
  • THE S.A.F.E. PROGRAM The Student Assistance and Family Empowerment Program (SAFE) was established by Orange County Public Schools in 1986 in order to comply with the Safe and Drug Free Schools Community Act.  The goal of the SAFE program is to provide a comprehensive continuum of prevention and intervention services in the areas of alcohol, tobacco, drugs and violence.

    The SAFE program:

     Provides support for at-risk students and their parents

     Provides prevention programs and strategies that promote developmental assets and strengthen resiliency in children

     Delivers Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs (ATOD) and violence prevention curricula including bully prevention

     Deals with student crisis in the schools

     Provides school-based and district-based assistance in the area of risk behaviors

     Offers programs and resources for parent education

     Creates partnerships with community agencies and organizations to provide additional services, including support groups for students 

  • Student Services Secretary, responsible for scheduling of parent/teacher conferences and 504 meetings.
